Aagami has been awarded a new mandate by its French biotech client to support the out-licensing of NFL-101, the client’s lead Phase 3 asset for smoking cessation.
This new project reflects the client’s continued confidence in Aagami and highlights the trust the team has built and sustained over time.
The client is a biopharmaceutical company based in the Montpellier region of France and is developing botanical drug candidates for the treatment of addictions.
Its ambition is to provide safer, more effective natural therapeutic solutions for people worldwide, including in low- and middle-income countries. NFL-101 and NFL-102 are standardized tobacco leaf extracts protected by five patent families.
The company aims to offer smokers who wish to quit a natural, safe, easy-to-administer, and personalized alternative. It is also developing NFL-301, a natural drug candidate intended to reduce alcohol consumption, and has a drug development program targeting cannabis use disorders.
In 2021, Aagami supported the client in securing a licensing opportunity as NFL-101 entered Phase 2 development. Following the Phase 2 results, the client has again engaged Aagami to support its partnering efforts.
The Phase 2 results indicate that:
· The results reaffirm the potential of a personalized approach to smoking cessation.
· A predictive biomarker of efficacy has been identified, enabling a personalized treatment approach with NFL-101.
· In the target population, efficacy was approximately 30% higher than that reported for Champix® in the EAGLES study.
· The biomarker-defined target population represents 57% of patients, indicating significant market potential.
· Statistically significant results versus placebo confirm the clinical potential of NFL-101 in the target population.
· NFL-101, together with the biomarker strategy, opens new development and partnership opportunities for NFL Biosciences’ tobacco franchise.
· The findings support the strategy announced in January 2026 to achieve superior and differentiated efficacy in smoking cessation.
