New Assignment: Drug-device to prevent Hangover and Asian Flush based on FDA-approved materials

Published : 06 Jan 2020

An Israeli client, has given a new assignment to Aagami, for partnering their Drug-device combination to prevent Hangover and Asian Flush based on FDA-approved materials.

After consuming alcoholic beverages, the body breaks down the alcohol (ethanol) to acetaldehyde (AcH) in the liver.

AcH is more toxic than ethanol and is the major culprit for hangover and  Asian Flush syndrome (1) .

Our client's solution, StopOver, is a drug-device for those people who drank and wish to prevent hangover and avert its consequences, as well as prevent Asian Flush if they suffer from this syndrome.

Their unique AcH scavengers’ formulation will remove AcH from the blood in a safe, fast and friendly manner. StopOver will be self-administered using a needle-free injector, to ensure efficient and faster action than oral administration as it by-passes the digestive system and goes directly into the bloodstream.

The novel StopOver approach uses an FDA-approved, needle-free injector and fills it with a unique formulation of FDA-approved scavengers. This will greatly facilitate regulatory approval.

The number of hangovers globally is > 3 billion/year. Taking a conservative approach of 5% market share, the sales can eventually reach one billion USD per year.

"Aagami team are quite excited with the potential and looks forward to supporting the client succeed in their goals" said Godwyn Francis, VP, Aagami.
