Acquisitions:
- Kedaara Capital bets on India’s orthopaedic market with US$200 Million Tynor deal.
- Piramal Pharma completed the acquisition of an additional 40.67% stake in Hyderabad-based CDMO Yapan Bio for Rs. 76 crore (~US$8 Million), taking its holding to 74% and making Yapan Bio a subsidiary.
- Hearzap, backed by 360 ONE Asset Management, completed the acquisition of Amplifon India’s hearing healthcare business, expanding its network to 420 centres across India. (Value undisclosed.)
- Eli Lilly to acquire Merida Biosciences for up to US$2.875 Billion, adding a precision autoantibody-degradation platform for autoimmune and allergic disease.
- Jazz Pharmaceuticals to acquire Actio Biosciences for US$820 Million upfront plus up to US$500 Million in milestones (up to US$1.32 Billion), expanding its rare epilepsy portfolio.
- LEO Pharma acquired Tanabe Pharma’s dersimelagon in a US$435 Million deal — a Phase 3-complete, FDA-filed oral MC1R agonist for erythropoietic protoporphyria.
- BioMarin entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Dutch biotech Alesta Therapeutics for its lead clinical-stage asset ALE1. (Value undisclosed.)
Licensing:
- Lupin’s subsidiary VISUfarma entered an exclusive licensing agreement with Visus Therapeutics (Tenpoint Therapeutics) for YUVEZZI™, a presbyopia eye drop, across the EU, UK, Switzerland, Norway and Iceland, together with a strategic investment in Visus. (Value undisclosed.)
- Mankind Pharma signed an exclusive in-licensing and marketing agreement with China’s Chongqing Chenan Biopharmaceutical to commercialise Insulin Degludec and Insulin Degludec + Aspart Combination in India. (Value undisclosed).
- Elephas Biosciences Corporation, a US-based company that has developed an innovative live tissue platform for immunotherapy response prediction, has announced an exclusive partnership with Chennai-based Neuberg Diagnostics, one of India's leading pathology and molecular diagnostics groups.
- Gland Pharma and Neuland Labs announce strategic collaboration for sterile API manufacturing.
- Genentech licensed Hanmi Pharm’s first-in-class obesity and Type 2 diabetes candidate HM17321 — US$190 Million upfront in a deal worth up to US$2.3 Billion.
- SK Biopharmaceuticals and Biohaven signed a strategic global licensing agreement for Biohaven’s Kv7 ion channel platform and lead epilepsy candidate opakalim, worth up to US$795 Million.
- Teva bid US$57.5 Million upfront for BioXcel Therapeutics’ at-home treatment for schizophrenia and bipolar agitation.
Investments/Fund Raising:
- Tata Capital Healthcare Fund III invests US$30 Million in Tenet Diagnostics.
- Natco Pharma invested a further US$14 Million in US xenotransplantation company eGenesis, through its Canadian and South African subsidiaries, taking its total investment to US$22 Million.
- Ayati Devices raised Rs. 15 crore (~US$1.7 Million) in a pre-Series A round led by Inflexor Ventures.
- Genentech will invest US$750 Million in a new end-to-end injectable fill-finish manufacturing facility in Hillsboro, Oregon.
- Amylyx Pharmaceuticals priced a US$500.2 Million public offering to fund pre-commercial activity for its lead asset avexitide.
- Braveheart Bio priced a US$382.5 Million IPO to advance BHB-1893, a next-generation oral cardiac myosin inhibitor for hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.
- LifeMine Therapeutics raised US$263 Million (US$188 Million Series E and US$75 Million Series D) — the largest private round of the month — to advance LIFE-001 in transplantation and immunology.
